Athenia’s track to the casualty

On Saturday 24/6/2022 the Athenia answered a Pan Pan put out by Shetland Coast Guard on behalf of a lone yachtsman suffering from severe fatigue after his auto pilot failure. She was released from her survey duties whilst working on the BTR100 project. She was first on the scene and managed to make comms with the skipper of the Why Knot. She stoodby until the Stromness Lifeboat arrived and towed the casualty to Westray. Well done to John and the crew who had an extra 70 nautical miles to travel that day in F5 winds and choppy sea conditions on top of their survey & CTV duties.
